What is Mammography?

Mammography is a simple, safe x-ray examination of the breast. Mammograms can show slight changes in the breast tissue and reveal abnormalities, including tiny cancerous tumors, when they are too small to be felt. When discovered early, most breast cancers can be effectively treated.

The Latest Technology: Digital Mammography

Both Doylestown Hospital and the Health & Wellness Center offer digital mammography, which captures the image of a breast electronically. As the breast tissue is compressed and scanned, the digital image appears instantly on the computer monitor and is simultaneously stored in the computer. One of the benefits of digital mammography is that the computerized breast image can be enlarged for a better view of dense tissue.  

High Resolution Breast Ultrasound:

Breast Ultrasound is only offered at Doylestown Hospital.  It is used to assist mammography in the detection of abnormalities.  With ultrasound the abnormalities can be categorized as a cyst or solid tumor/mass.   The images are captured by the technologist and stored digitally.

Tuesday-Thursday 6:30 am - 6:30 pm

Friday 6:30 am - 4:30 pm (Appointment or walk in no later than 3:45 pm)

The Women's Diagnostic Center is located on the second level, Suite 2200.

The Women's Diagnostic Centers are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Female technologists and radiologists are available.

All major insurances are accepted.

The Centers participate in Healthy Woman 50+, a federally funded program that provides free or reduced-cost mammograms and pelvic exams to low-income women who are uninsured or underinsured.  To find out if you are eligible to receive services under this program, call the Bucks County Health Department at 215-345-3340.
