Charles Burrows, MD
Medical School:  Temple University
Residency:  Temple University Hospital
Fellowship:  Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Professional Profile

Dr. Charles Burrows specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at Temple University Hospital. In 1993, he received the Lachman Award in Orthopaedic Surgery from Temple University Medical School. Dr. Burrows came to Doylestown Hospital more than a decade ago after completing fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania/Pennsylvania Hospital.

A sports injury in high school led Dr. Burrows to develop his interest in orthopedics. His concentration eventually gravitated towards hip and knee replacement. Since the mid-1990s, Dr. Burrows has devoted his time and focus to the art and science of joint replacement. Advancements in medical technology have meant less invasive procedures, quicker recovery and more durable, longer lasting implants.

Dr. Burrows has done a number of presentations at professional conferences and in the community on topics including gender-specific knee replacement and arthritis of the hip and knee.

Personal Profile

Dr. Burrows' philosophy of patient care includes compassion, safety and excellence in outcomes. His goal is to offer the best in joint replacement surgery to the local community. To him, Doylestown Hospital offers outstanding care with a personal touch. "While many large "big city" hospitals are practicing the "business of medicine," Doylestown Hospital has continued to pursue excellence in patient care," says Dr. Burrows.

Patients of Dr. Burrows remain under his care before, during and after surgery. "In a community hospital like Doylestown, I personally do your surgery," he explains. "It will not be done by a 'trainee.' I make the incision, perform the surgery and close the incision myself."

Dr. Burrows enjoys spending time with his family as well as hunting, skiing, canoeing and rooting for Philadelphia sports teams--especially the Philadelphia Eagles football team.
