Dr. Thomas Mackell specializes in joint replacement and fracture care. He earned his medical degree from the Thomas Jefferson University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed orthopedic surgery residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Mackell has been a member of the Doylestown Hospital medical staff for more than three decades. He has served on the hospital's Medical Staff Executive and Medical Staff Development committees. Dr. Mackell is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Mackell was attracted to orthopedics because of an interest in technology and the opportunity to correct the functional problems of his patients. While he welcomes change, he does not jump on any technological bandwagon. "As technology advances and is proven," says Dr. Mackell, "then we will provide it and use it correctly." He states his philosophy of patient care as "Believing I must bring forth the very best effort every day to every patient."
A longstanding relationship with Doylestown Hospital has led Dr. Mackell to appreciate its dedicated and competent staff of nurses, physicians and other clinical personnel. "Not being a training center, we can provide more experienced hands and skills," he adds.
Dr. Mackell has a great interest in education and has been interviewing student applicants for his undergraduate alma mater, Georgetown University, for nearly 20 years. He is founding director of two community banks in Doylestown and has been active with the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Mackell's interests include offshore tournament fishing and golf.
